Chemicals
Subtopics
Some of the most dangerous instances of environmental crime results from non-compliance with requirements related to managing toxic chemical wastes across their life-cycle, from production to disposal.
As part of a comprehensive national strategy for managing toxic wastes, countries can benefit from identifying synergies in the implementation of the three chemicals multilateral environmental agreements: the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions. Additionally, countries should refer to the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM), which is a policy framework to promote chemical safety around the world.
