1.
The Venue
The
workshop will take place from Monday, 3rd November to Tuesday,
4th November, 2003 in Paris, France, at the Conference Room
D of the OECD Headquarters. The meeting will start at 9:30
a.m. on the first day. The closest metro stations to the
OECD HQ are "La Muette" (metro line No. 9) or
"Passy" (metro line No. 6 and some 10 min walk).
The map of the area is attached to this Note.
The
participants shall take the main entrance to the OECD (Address:
2, rue André Pascal, 16th arrondissement, Paris)
where the name badges will be distributed at the reception
desk upon the presentation of an identity card or a passport.
2.
Travel
All
participants are kindly requested to make their own travel
arrangements, including those participants whose expenses
are supported by the OECD Secretariat. Those who have prior
funding arrangements with the OECD Secretariat representative
will provide the reimbursement of travel expenses and Paris
per-diem during the days of the meeting. Please note that
in order to receive reimbursement of travel expenses, the
OECD-funded participants are required to present copies
of their tickets with a clear indication of price in USD
or EURO, as well as original invoices.
France
requires visas for travelers from certain countries to enter
France. Participants are kindly requested to check their
situation in the closest French Consulate or consult the
Web site of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs: http://www.france.diplomatie.fr/venir/visas/index.asp?anglais.
If required, the Secretariat will issue a formal invitation
letter for visa purposes.
3.
Airport-Paris Transfers
Airport-Paris
transfers will not be arranged by the OECD Secretariat.
There are several transfer possibilities to come to Paris
from the airport:

Express
train RER (line B) that goes from the Roissy Airport
to the city centre and has several correspondences with
metro lines. The RER ticket costs around 9 € one
way.

Special
Air France or RATP bus lines from the airports (Orly
- south of Paris or Roissy/Charles de Gaulle - north
of Paris) to different places in the city centre (Châtelet,
Opéra, Porte Maillot, Charles de Gaulle-Etoile,
Denfert Rochereau). The bus ticket costs about 11 €
one way.

Taxi.
One way ride to the centre of Paris normally costs around
40 €. Please note that during peak hours (from
17:00 to 20:30), it may increase up to 70 € due
to heavy traffic.
The
way to RER, buses and taxis is indicated at the airport
arrival halls. The travel from the airport to Paris can
take between 30 minutes (no traffic problems) to 2 hours
(heavy traffic).
4.
Hotel accommodation
Participants
are kindly requested to make their own hotel reservations.
Attached to this note you will find a list of hotels situated
in close proximity to the Conference venue. If for some
reason you fail to book a hotel from the attached list,
you may also contact the Paris Accor Hotel Switchboard (Centrale

30. At the time of booking you will be requested to provide
the following information: dates of your stay in Paris,
your name and your credit card number, the preferred district
for hotel accommodation and the preferred price for the
room.
5.
Other information
The
meeting will be held in English. The meeting room will be
equipped with the multimedia projector for PowerPoint presentations
and an overhead projector. All participants will be invited
to a cocktail hosted by the OECD on 3rd November at 18:30
in Marshall Room of the OECD HQ.
The
November weather in Paris should be mild with the temperature
between 5 and 10 (Celsius). Rain is possible though there
can also be some sunny days.
