New "Governance Matters" Indicators Update
In September 2006, the World Bank Institute released a new report in the 'Governance Matters' series containing the updated and expanded set of worldwide Governance Indicators for 213 countries and territories. Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Indicators Trainings in Asia
In conjunction with the Expert Working Group and AECEN, INECE delivered 2-day capacity building programs on the Identification, Design, and Use of Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Indicators in Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. In each of the three countries, the program was highly successful and resulted in a draft set of compliance and enforcement indicators that can be tested and implemented by the environment agency of each country.

Compliance and Enforcement Network for Accession Benchmarking Project
The Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network for
Accession (ECENA) announced a new project to build capacity in
Progress Monitoring and Benchmarking for environmental compliance and
enforcement in the West Balkans.
The project, which is supported by the World
Bank, will be implemented though collecting international experience on
benchmarking and progress monitoring, developing Guidelines on
Progress Monitoring and Benchmarking in Environmental Enforcement and
Compliance, and conducting regional training on the same topic.
